A new name for Kenny.

The Post had this wonderful headline on a political fix post today: "Hulsho defends ethanol mandate; contends Steelman is aligned with Chavez." I'm not sure whether you should pronounce that Hul-show or Huls - hoe, but either one is pretty darned funny if you ask me. It was up most of the day as I was waiting to see if they changed it before posting. (for some reason I'm having trouble with the editing features today, so I can't link you to it).

McCain Day

Can't String a Sentence Together

Anyone else find it odd that Sarah's handlers won't let her speak in her TV ads?  Or maybe its not so odd.

Katie Smith out at Agriculture

Blunt's office today confirmed what has been rumored around Jefferson City for a while.  Katie Smith is resigning as head of the Department of Agriculture.  Her quick departure date (July 7) is sure to fuel the competing rumors that 1) Katie was in trouble for refusing to participate in the Hulshof campaign in the face of growing pressure from Blunt operatives and 2) Katie threatened to resign many times over the problems associated with the Blunt eth  Story Continued »

Are there ethical problems, you think?

Check out David Catenes' interview with Sarah Steelman.  David asks some great questions, but lets her up way to easy since she just flat out refuses to answer.  These questions are worth being asked again:  1) "Do you think Matt Blunt is running an ethical government?  2) What are the problems with his government?  3) Are there ethical problems, you think?"

GOP candidates' opinion of GOP voters

I'm fascinated by the message the Republican candidates are sending us -- not the message about their vision for the state, but their message about what they think of GOP voters.  According to GOP ads (I'm particularly thinking of Hulshof, Luetkemeyer and Steelman here) every voter in the GOP primary owns a truck and probably a tractor, lives on a farm, doesn't own a tie, has reckless disregard for t  Story Continued »

Sarah Steelman. Guts.

Steelman is up with a blistering negative ad on Hulshof.

I love the smell of napalm in the morning.  Smells like . . . victory.

What a Great Show. Steelman Hulshof Trade Body Blows

What a day yesterday was.  I'm really just repeating what is already obvious on combest's wonderful compilation of the Republican Box score, but thought today was hillarious enough to post on.

The Undead -- Ward Connerly Says He'll keep trying to Ban Affirmative Action

So, you thought Ward Connerly and his paid henchman Tim Asher would get the message that Missouri supports affirmative action, take their carpetbaggers back to where they came from and leave Missouri alone?  No Way.  In recent filings with the Missouri Court of Appeals concerning Asher's lawsuit over Robin Carnahan's ballot language (and, for the record, it was Asher who slowed things down with litigation, not Carnahan), Asher has filed an affidavit stating he "intends on placing the identical ballot petition that is the subject of this litigation on an upcoming ballot.  Story Continued »

What's the Frequency, Kenneth?

Kenny Hulshof is up with a TV ad in Springfield according to the KC Star.  Although I certainly understand Kenneth's need to put up an ad quickly to try to deal with his terrible poll numbers and lack of name recognition.  I was perplexed by the content of the ad.  Hushlof drives down a dirt road in a truck and almost hits a dog.  He walks through a field and invokes faith and hard work.  Says he was taught the difference between right and wrong and knows that "both Missouri and her land are blessed by God."  He says "the basic moral strength of our people" is the foundation of our future.  The ad ends by saying that Kenneth is the conservative for Governor.  So what is he trying to say exactly?  Story Continued »

The Unpopular Crowd

It kind of stinks to be a Republican these days what with having to defend George Bush, Matt Blunt and Vito Fossella.  But even given the national trends the Missouri GOP has to buck, the latest polling data has to take all the air out of their lungs.

GOP Theme Day

Boy, the news stories today appear to contain a theme.  State Treasurer Sarah Steelman and Deputy Manager/Campaign State Treasurer Doug Gaston misused state money to pay Gaston and then lied about it.  Governor Blunt's office misused state resource for campaign purpose again yesterday after Jeff Harris had the audacity to be interviewed by reporters about Blun  Story Continued »

BombombsAway, Bombardier!

Man, I love watching Republicans fight almost as much as I'm sure they love to watch us fight.  Check out the latest Bombardier salvo in this video posted on Political News Service, a right of center blog.  I'm not a good enough blogger to insert the video here.  Remember that French sounding Canadian company Bombardier, is represented by the Lathrop and Gage law firm (an anagram, btw, for Gal Heart GOP!  Coincidence you say?  I think not) home of GOP ca  Story Continued »
