Scientists react to the assault on reason
Submitted by jgosgood on Mon, 10/02/2006 - 11:00pm.Scientists and Engineers for America
Don't know much about this organization but it's worth checking out. All those involved in education in general and science in particular need to lead the way. Now is the wrong time to be dragged back into the "Dark Ages" by Republican Right-Wingers (their party base).
Looking forward to the new Al Gore book too!

Gen Frank delivers KNOCK OUT BLOW in tonight's candidate forum with Blunt backing opponent Dwight Scharnhorst
Submitted by jgosgood on Wed, 01/25/2006 - 12:28am.Even though she was already way ahead on points and coasting towards victory, tonight's candidate forum ended with a KNOCK OUT punch by Genevieve Frank. After Dwight boasted that the recent Medicaid cuts have made the health care system in Missouri somehow healthier, Gen reminded her out-of-touch opponent of the reality that the cuts have hurt real people, including many in the 93rd, and that any changes that adversely affect the health of Missourians can hardly be called "healthy!" The crowd burst into applause as Genevieve concluded. For all of us there, it made us remember why we're DEMOCRATS! Thanks again Gen! Story Continued »

Jimmy Carter's Editorial finally makes the Post
Submitted by jgosgood on Wed, 11/23/2005 - 7:05pm.Here's a link to President Carter's comments in the Post-Dispatch. His new book, Our Endangered Values, America's Moral Crisis, makes great reading. Mr. Carter is able to provide insights from his perspective as an ex-President as well as an evangelical Christian. Fired Up should consider putting a link to the book on the left margin with the other great reads there too! Gale

Buy Blue, just not in my neighborhood
Submitted by jgosgood on Sat, 10/22/2005 - 10:41am.The other day, my wife, also Pres of a local township democratic club, was canvassing for the Democratic candidate in a neighboring legislative district. As many of you know, canvassing means walking the streets in the voting area, bringing the message door to door. It requires some physical endurance as well as some intestinal fortitude. While on one of her many “walks,” she noticed a prominent Kirkwood Chevrolet dealer displaying 4 large republican signs on their lot. She and my daughter stopped in and talked it over with local management. My wife pointed out to folks there that union laborers made those cars and they should consider taking the signs down or adding comparable Democratic signs. They took the republican signs down. An apparent victory?...well there’s more to this story.
