I listened to Sarah Palin’s breathless Farewell Address set off by tweeting birds and cooing babies. I wish the speech had been set off by commas; I was exhausted by the pace.

What a slipshod affair it’s been between “Sparky” Sanford and his Argentine “soul mate.” This week the plot thickened in a chintzy Appalachian soap opera.

Matt Blunt Looking for Assistance from "Activist" Federal Judge?

Matt Blunt --who has attacked many judges as "activist"-- is reportedly preparing to ask one such "activist" federal judge to interfere with a ruling of the Missouri state courts and throw out a recent judgment on campaign finance.

Faced with a recent decision of the Missouri Supreme Court that will likely force Blunt to return some $3-plus million shaken down from special interests, Blunt has apparently decided that he must pursue any course of action that will allow him to hang on to every last dime he's raised --even if it means turning to the judicial system that he regularly derides.

Look for the Guv to file suit under a theory of "equal protection" or some other constitutional doctrine that he never believed in until he was told he might use it to keep a few million in blood money.

As noted earlier, one strategy already adopted by Blunt to avoid following the law is to pressure the Missouri Ethics Commission --illegally-- into not enforcing the decision of the Missouri Supreme Court.

It is unclear whether Blunt will engage his allies James Harris and Jeff Roe of the anti-judge Adam Smith Foundation in running attack radio ads to soften up the federal judge who winds up hearing his desperation lawsuit.
