Blunt's Blunders

This is a forum where you can post your favorite/least favorite Blunt Blunder in his first year in office.

Another sell out?

One of the great “Blunters” to me was this past spring concerning SB74 (limiting mercury in vaccines). The original write of this bill included banning mercury for those up to the age of 13 and informed consent been given to all others. This bipartisan bill had unanimous support in both health committees and received strong favorable votes. However, at the last minute Governor Blunt’s office demanded the original bill’s age restrictions and informed consent clause be removed in order to receive his signature for passage.

What about the thousands of Missouri children over the age of three that will go in for flu shots each fall? They will still be receiving mercury at a rate of 10-15x over the safe limit. Many adults will be receiving 2-4x over the safe limit as well. Who are you really concerned about protecting Governor? An industry that wants to save a few dollars profit per shot? A manufacturing company located in this state currently named as a defendant in pending litigation?

Did his son get a mercury free flu shot?

If Matt Blunt was really concerned about costs to the state of Medicare/Medicaid he would have kept the more stringent ban as those unlucky enough to be damaged will likely cost the state in terms of Special Education costs and medical attention for the rest of their lives since they are often labelled "autistic" and blacklisted by insurers.

No more Illusion

I predict his 65% "solution" will enable him soon to break the 65% dissaproval rating and put an end to the illusion that he has any future in Missouri politics.

The Blunt Bighouse

I think that Baby Blunt's wife must know also that he is a one-term wonder. She must have said, "Honey, we'd better go ahead and get a big house in Springfield right now while we are still Governor and we can get good terms."

RE: the blunt bigh house

I could not have said it better. Matt Blunt has done so much for us. NOT he has not done a thing but bring us down. Help out the eldery is how I was raised. Matt Blunt sure was not raised that way. Help out those who need it the most and do not take away from them...

Matt Blunt enjoy that huge house you have now cause WE paid for it while YOU put others homeless and on the streets with NO house and you have 2 FOR NOW.

How to choose?

Could it be First Steps? The rumor (among his own party) is that when he saw First Steps in the budget, Blunt didn’t know what it was. To research Blunt called a family friend who was a physician, the physician didn’t know what it was either. So Boy Blunder thought it couldn’t be that important and eliminated it. At least he later figured it out.

But it would be hard to beat the Trish Vincent’s DOR. Where "all fee offices all the time" have increased wait times and reduced taxpayer satisfaction. Where experienced managers have been forced out, and inexperienced, ineffective Division Directors have been appointed. Where employee morale is at all time low. Where a whining legislator can get a valid tax liability eliminated. Have you ever had to sit through a presentation by KL? Painful.
