Decoding vague references from context clues
Via Combest, I see that Dave Catanese has a vague bit about the FBI having been in Jefferson City recently.
The F.B.I. was spotted in Jefferson City the other day, and yes, Republicans are talking (ok, whispering) about it.
What to make of that --it's very non-specific? Check the context clues:
If Republicans were "whispering" about it rather than "talking" or "hollering" about it, you can bet it centered on one of their own, another Republican.
And if Catanese has it, you know it was Springfield Republicans who were whispering about it.
And who from their own party do Springfield Republicans have a significant reservoir of ill-will built up against?
Seems there were quite a few who had bones to pick with the Speaker this session...- Howard Beale's blog

Normally....
can you whisper to us
Wish I could, Glic.
But unfortunately Springfield Republicans --while they may whisper to Dave Catanese-- don't whisper to us.
