Cynthia Davis
Translating Cynthiaspeak
You may have found Cynthia Davis' interview about health care reform with FOX Business confusing and unintelligible; fear not. I have been hard at work translating her words into something more digestible for the masses. Her language is shown in italics below -- it's too hot to handle otherwise.
Fatigued by Villicators
Read More »“Well, first of all, I'm a little bit fatigued with all the people vilifying the people with no insurance. There are plenty of good people in Missouri who don't have insurance and they do pay their bills. So I would appreciate it if those in Washington would stop all that rhetoric about people with no insurance are the ones who are bankrupting our health care system.
And, secondly, I don't appreciate them vilifying all insurance companies, especially since they're trying to use those to force everybody to buy insurance.

Quote of the Day
"Given the comments and the ideology coming out of Cynthia Davis and Tim Jones, this might be a decent idea."
~ Rep. Mike Talboy (D-Kansas City) on why testing state legislators for illegal drug use might be wise public policy
Davis: Talking About The Costs of The Uninsured as Bad as Racism and Hairism
Rep. Cynthia Davis (R-O'Fallon) says you're a bad person if you think the uninsured contribute to higher health care costs for individuals and families with insurance. From her weekly newsletter, as posted by The Turner Report:
Read More »Blaming the uninsured for driving up the cost of healthcare is just as prejudiced as blaming any other group of people merely by social, economic affiliation skin color [sic] or hair styles. Those with no insurance who pay their bills in a timely manner are likely to pay their medical bills in a timelier manner than the insurance companies. Our enemy is not the uninsured. Our problems are created by artificially inflated prices, minimal disclosure and a lack of incentive to shop for the most affordable medical care.
Cynthia Davis Commentary Prompts Audible Gasps In Health Policy Hearing
The comments of Birther Rep. Cynthia Davis (R-O'Fallon) at today's House Health Care Policy Committee hearing have Capitol insiders buzzing a bit this afternoon.
According to multiple individuals in attendance, Davis left fellow representatives and the crowd aghast as she shared her thoughts with a witness -- who happened to be an African American -- about the nutrition habits of 'your people' and 'your community.'
Davis reportedly questioned the witness about her faith background, and then expressed concern about what she perceived to be poor choices made by food stamp recipients, making multiple references to white milk being preferable to chocolate milk.

For reasons I won't pretend to understand, twelve Republican state representatives voted against extended unemployment benefits yesterday (HB 1544).
The legislation sponsored by Rep. Barney Fisher (R-Richards) passed 143-12, and will allow more than 62,000 Missourians to receive extended unemployment benefit, and not cost the state a dime.
Jason Brown, birther Cynthia Davis, birther Ed Emery, Doug Ervin, birther Tim Jones, Andrew Koenig, Will Kraus, Mike Leara, Brian Nieves, Mark Parkinson, Tom Self and Bryan Stevenson all opposed the extension.
Cynthia Davis Concerned About Too Much Bipartisanship in State Senate
Another fascinating tidbit from Jo Mannies' story about the Scott Rupp v. Cynthia Davis matchup in the second senate district:
But Davis adds that she's also concerned by what she views as too much camaraderie in the Senate between Republicans and Democrats. "The Senate has become a big fraternity club," she said, where members' "loyalty to each other" outweighs their partisan differences.
"You can't tell who's a Republican or Democrat," Davis complained. If she wins, she said, that will change.
More gridlock and petty partisanship, please.
Quote of the Day
"Just because you can get three jugs of milk for $8 doesn't mean you should get all three. Term limits is not the same as a suggested amount of time to hold your office."
~ Rep. Cynthia Davis on why challengers shouldn't be discouraged from taking on incumbents who aren't yet termed out, like state Sen. Scott Rupp
Quote of the Day
"The more that she talks and opens her mouth, the better I look."

Kinder writes $100,000 check to Schweich, hopes House GOP doesn't mind
Lt. Governor Peter Kinder wrote state auditor candidate Thomas Schweich a $100,000 check on New Year's Eve -- a sizable donation, especially from a candidate who still showed more than $400,000 in his own campaign debts in his last campaign finance report.
As the Post-Dispatch's Tony Messenger notes in his post about the donation, Kinder's strong support for Schweich (a thank you for not pursuing the US Senate?) puts him at odds with most all of the House Republicans, who have backed House Budget Chair Allen Icet in the GOP primary for auditor.
