New Carnahan Ad: "Manages"

Just released.

New Blunt Ad Falsely Claims That Carnahan Supports "The Largest Tax Increase In History"

A new ad from the Roy Blunt for Senate campaign claims that Robin Carnahan supports "the largest income tax increase in history."

This is obviously false.  Not only does it misstate Carnahan's position on the Bush tax cuts, it completely mischaracterizes Barack Obama's proposal for extending the tax cuts.  Indeed, Politifact.com looked at this same claim when Sarah Palin made it a few weeks ago, and rated it "Pants on Fire!"

[Letting all the tax cuts expire isn't the plan the Democrats are proposing..

Palin said, "Democrats are poised now to cause this largest tax increase in U.S. history." She was asked about tax cuts for the top 2 percent. Either Palin is confused about the revenue numbers involved with extending the tax cuts, or she's willfully distorting the Democratic plans. We'll let you be the judge of that. Regardless, Wallace was very specific about asking her about tax increases for the top 2 percent. And that does not represent the largest tax increase in history. The unlikely outcome that she seems to be talking about -- that all of the Bush tax cuts will be repealed -- wouldn't be the largest tax increase in history either. Palin read the number on her hand correctly, but that's about all she got right. So we rate her statement Pants on Fire.

New AFSCME Ad: "It's Pretty Simple"

This ad isn't running is Missouri (yet), but lays out a compelling contrast ahead of the November elections.

New Carnahan Campaign Web Vid: What Is Congressman Blunt Hiding?

A new web video from the Robin Carnahan campaign:

CrossRoads GPS Brings More 'Misdirection' To MO

Karl Rove's Crossroads GPS organization has posted a new ad to their YouTube channel praising Peter Kinder for his silly health care lawsuit (though strangely not by name), but is really about helping Roy Blunt's Senate campaign.  The ad attempts to scare voters with misleading suggestions that the new health care reform law will increase their premiums, and wonders if a baby born today will even have health care under the new law.

The ad revolves around a fictional newborn baby, wondering if Democrats will prohibit the little girl from seeing doctors when when she gets older.  "Our Lieutenant Governor is suing so her health care will be there," says the narrator. Never mind those facts about how the health care law dramatically increases access to coverage, especially for children.

FactCheck.org evaluated similar ads from Crossroads GPS running in other states, and found those to be dishonest and misleading.

Episode V: Congressman Blunt & Casino Jack

Congressman Blunt wines and dines with Abramoff before supporting Abramoff’s clients in letters written to the Secretary of the Interior.

In this dramatic episode, Congressman Roy Blunt cozies up to convicted felon Jack Abramoff. Abramoff has already contributed thousands to Blunt’s leadership fund but now Blunt gets listed as a “friend of the owner,” entitling him to free meals and drinks at Abramoff’s notorious D.C. watering hole, Signatures. “Friend of the owner” status is enjoyed by an elite group of 8 current and former Members of Congress. According to the Associated Press, Congressman Blunt, Tom DeLay and their aides frequently meet with Abramoff’s lobbying team. Shortly after receiving another large contribution from Abramoff, Blunt signs several letters to the Secretary of the Interior supporting Abramoff client positions.
