Coalition of 26 Missouri Business Leaders Calls On Bond, McCaskill to Support Strong Climate Legislation
Submitted by .Sean on September 30, 2009 - 2:23pmPreparing for the release of the Senate's clean energy legislation (made public today), a group of 26 Missouri business leaders wrote Senators Kit Bond and Claire McCaskill earlier this week to support the comprehensive climate and energy bill. As outlined in an accompanying release from Missouri Votes Conservation, the letter calls on Bond and McCaskill to support policies that include:
- Encouragement for entrepreneurs to invest in cleaner, energy-efficient technologies and industries.
- New markets for the dozens of small Missouri businesses who provide the needed materials and services for the energy efficiency market.
- Protection against the dramatic energy price spikes experienced over the last several years.
New Congressional GOP Energy Plan actually prohibits consideration of climate change pollution
Submitted by .Sean on June 10, 2009 - 4:05pmBelieve it or not, the new Republican energy plan would actually prohibit any consideration of climate changing/global warming pollution under the Clean Air Act. Apparently, when folks like Roy Blunt say they want an "all of the above" energy policy -- they actually mean "none of the above."

Vice President Biden touts green jobs in Jeff City
Submitted by General Content on April 16, 2009 - 6:15pm
This afternoon in Jefferson City:
Vice President Joe Biden used a visit to a mid-Missouri transformer factory Thursday to highlight how the federal economic stimulus package is propelling a new wind-energy project and spinning off jobs.
Speaking from the factory floor of ABB Inc., Biden announced that the Department of Energy will award about $4 billion in grants under the stimulus package to improve the nation's electric grid...
Biden touted an order for 100 ABB-built electrical transformers to be used at a $300 million wind power plant in northwest Missouri. Wind Capital Group, which plans to break ground in August on the DeKalb County project, says it will be the largest wind farm in Missouri with a capacity to provide power to about 50,000 homes.
