Gina Loudon

Quote of the Day

Words fail me: "If you don't vote in this election -- as our good friend Bill Federer said -- you may never have the chance to vote again. It's the truth."

Right-wing radio host Gina Loundon on KJSL this afternoon

Loudon: Park 51 "Synonymous With A Nazi War Memorial"

Absolutely disgusting stuff from KJSL radio personality and GOP activist Gina Loudon.

Rancor among religions is one thing, but the questions surrounding the proposed mosque at Ground Zero are an entirely different sort of attack.

The land surrounding Ground Zero is a war memorial. The proposal of an Islamic mosque there is synonymous with a Nazi war memorial in downtown London. How would the world react to that proposal? Wouldn’t Western Europe just about leap off the map if that were proposed? Where is the outrage from our European “friends?”

Perhaps they are confused with the whole rosy picture of Peace being painted by the Main Stream Media (MSM)? Perhaps they believe the lie that this mosque is going to exist to “bring religions together.” Is that why they chose Ground Zero, the most hallowed ground in the Country at the moment?

Loudon: Move Your Gay Self To Iowa

Never ones to let a public policy debate in another state go to waste, former State Senator John Loudon and corporate tea party personality Gina Loudon are hoppin' mad about yesterday's court ruling about California's Prop 8.  Gina is promoting a National Organization for Marriage rally in Clayton tomorrow, and says the Prop 8 ruling is one "big gay mistake" perpetrated by "the militant left." Silly you for thinking those socialist hordes were a bunch of peace-loving hippies.  She's also convinced that the 'rumors' regarding the judge's sexuality undermine his ability to think clearly about the law (court decisions about marriage are generally left to eunuchs, I'm told).

Not be outdone, John says if you want people to be treated equally under the law you should just move to someplace gay like Iowa:

If you want gay marriage, keep the federal government out of it. Move to a State of your choosing, and live happily gayly married ever after. This crap of you leftists getting one judge to make laws really irritates the heck out of people who believe in the rule of law. It is disgusting that you people cannot learn from the past. Live by the sword, die by the sword. You leave no choice but a US Constitutional Amendment.

Gina Loudon Makes Stuff Up

KJSL radio host Gina Loudon is excited about all the attention her show has gotten recently from the "Liblogs," especially Ed Martin's recent lunacy that's been discussed by Fired Up!, Show Me Progress and St. Louis Activist Hub.  "The leftist blogs seem to really enjoy my Show!" she writes.   It's quite inaccurate to say that I "enjoy" her show, but I have appreciated the opportunity she gives elected officials to share their thoughts on the issues of the day.

But after reading the post, I have no choice to but to conclude that (1) Loudon is actually unable to read or (2) she assumes that her readers will believe her garbage without actually checking what's been written in response to the interviews conducted on her show.

For instance, she writes:

[T]hey attacked candidate for Congress, Ed Martin, both for being a Christian in the first place (that can be so offensive to some, Ed, you should be more, uh, sensitive to those who find your faith offensive and ridiculous), and also for “attacking Russ’ faith” on my show. He didn’t, but let’s not get caught up in the details. Even Chris Matthews joined in the rancor, using unauthorized, proprietary audio that belongs to Crawford Broadcasting.

I'm quite confident I haven't "attacked" Martin "for being a Christian in the first place," and haven't seen such an attack anywhere.  Loudon links to Fired Up! for the Matthews clip, but provides no links to back up her claim that Fired Up! or anyone else said anything about Martin "being a Christian in the first place."

Blunt Says No One Has Given Him Enough Notice To Schedule Primary Debates

Yesterday on her new radio show, Gina Loudon asked Roy Blunt in a very roundabout way why he has not and will not debate his primary opponents before the August primary. Blunt, in response, gave a very roundabout answer, but finally said that he just hasn't found the time to schedule a debate or round-table discussion with his primary challengers.

I know when you're putting together an event it is the most important thing in the world as far as you're concerned. But if you don't tell somebody about it until ten days or two weeks beforehand, sometimes it's very hard, it's very hard to make that work based on all the other commitments you're making.

Listen:

Chuck Purgason first proposed a series of moderated round-table discussions in September 2009.

A few dozen tea party groups sponsored a candidate forum in March to address the "great deal of restlessness and discord over the apparent anointment of Blunt by the Republican Party as the only viable candidate to fill the senate seat being vacated by Senator Christopher Bond."

Quote of the Day

"He's a deep man. He thinks a lot. He's a lofty intellectual. He knows his history. He knows where he came from. And he absolutely knows where he's going."

Gina Loudon introducing Peter Kinder today on her new KJSL radio show

Standing By For Comment From Kinder, Luetkemeyer, Akin, Loudon...

Right-wing criminal/activists James O'Keefe, Joseph Basel, Robert Flanagan and Stan Dai pleaded guilty to federal charges in New Orleans today.

According to the Times Picayune, O'Keefe "received three years of probation, a fine of $1,500 and 100 hours of community service," and his compadres received slightly smaller sentences.

No word yet on how Missouri Republicans are reacting to the news. But based on their loud defenses of O'Keefe et al., I'm sure we'll be hearing some strong denunciations.

LG Spox Calls On Other States To Follow Kinder's Lead And Not Sue Anyone

UPDATE: The new plan is to promise a lawsuit, not file one, then promise a new one with money raised from unspecified private donors, or maybe keep trying to join the initial suit

I don't think this tweet/retweet from Peter Kinder's spokesman was intended to be ironic.

RT @drginaloudon: Missouri Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder to appear on Greta tonight at 9. Other states should copy his great idea!

Maybe I'm missing something, but Kinder's "great idea" has been to (1) promise that he would join Republican Attorneys General in a frivolous lawsuit to block the federal health care bill and then (2) not sue anyone.

Kinder's staff and Gina Loudon do understand that Kinder isn't doing what he promised, right?

Who is CBT's John Burns?

Originally posted at St. Louis Activist Hub.

Shortly after the recent Tea Party convention in Nashville Tennessee, a new group emerged in St. Louis dedicated to fighting against funding for public transportation in the St. Louis region. The misleadingly titled "Citizens for Better Transit" (CBT) was publicly represented by spokesperson John Burns, a relative newcomer to St. Louis politics. Despite the fact that Burns had no particular credibility and was using wildly misleading talking points (which I'll have to discuss at a different time), the local media has been quite willing to treat him as the spokesperson for a legitimate group and to provide him with equal airtime to the pro-transit campaign. In this post and the following, I want to examine the recent political activities of John Burns characterized by the blatant use of misinformation, sketchy connections, and contempt for the LGBT community.

Loudon Praises Alleged Criminal As "Hero"

Former state senate candidate and KTRS "political analyist" Gina Loudon blogged about her trip to the "Tea Party Leadership Conference" earlier this week, and had very kind words for Joe Basel.  Basel is facing a felony charge for breaking into Sen. Mary Landrieu's (D-LA) office, was apparently out on bond when he rant into Loudon.

The weekend was filled with heroes, and none of them were politicians or party bosses. They were people like Joe Basel, who was arrested with James O’Keefe for his phone prank on Senator Mary Landrieu when she refused to speak with constituents who PAY for those phones, and the office she uses every day!

The Daily Show Looks At "Buycotts"

Certainly not the funniest Daily Show clip, but here's some Missouri flavor from the teevee.

Fun for the Whole Family: The Further Adventures of John and Gina with Adult Entertainment Lobbyists

As we noted this morning, Gina Loudon --a GOP senate candidate and wife of sitting Senator John Loudon-- was the recipient of a campaign check late in the first quarter from Ann Michael, lobbyist for the adult entertainment industry's trade group, the Missouri Association of Club Executives.  To borrow a phrase from Paul Harvey - "now, for the rest of the story"...

According to insiders, the industry's contribution to Gina Loudon has quite an interesting pedigree.

John Loudon sponsored a bill this session, SB714, that related to criminal sexual offenses.  As that bill moved through committee, Sen. Matt Bartle offered a committee substitute that added provisions to the bill that would place legal restrictions on lap dancing, and the substitute passed out of the committee.  But when Loudon brought the bill to the Senate floor, he reportedly brought a Senate substitute for Bartle's Senate Committee Substitute that stripped (pardon the pun) out Bartle's prohibitions on lap dancing.

Christian Conservative GOPer Taps Skin Industry Lobbyist for Dough

We wouldn't be doing our job if we didn't point out that GOP primary candidate Gina Loudon, who is running for the nomination against two others for her husband John's senate seat, took campaign cash in the past quarter from an adult entertainment industry lobbyist.

Ann Michael, who is lobbyist for the Missouri Association of Club Executives, and her husband gave a maximum $675 check to Gina Loudon's senate campaign on March 29th.

And frankly, I say bully for Loudon.  I'd much rather see the Republican nominee for the 7th Senate District be someone who recognizes the importance of free speech and expression than someone who has sold her soul (and her office) to private school voucher advocates.

Unfortunately for Loudon, I'm not sure whether the West County GOP primary electorate feels the same way.
