Cynthia Davis Sponsors Constitutional Amendment Mirroring Roundtable's Latest (30th) Ballot Initiative
Today, Rep. Cynthia Davis (R-Other Universe) introduced HJR 49, a constitutional amendment very similar to the Missouri Roundtable for Life's latest ballot initiative (their 30th in 22 months) that would, in supporters' words, "stop taxpayer funding of abortion, human cloning, and embryonic stem cell research because they all destroy human life."
Though it's not entirely clear at this point, the Roundtable's endorsement of this new approach may indicate that they're not able or interested in collecting the signatures to put anything on the ballot this year.
Just like the Roundtable ballot initiative it replaces, the language in Davis' proposal would allow lawmakers to withhold public funds to Missouri universities and hospitals to block lawful stem cell research, and could even prevent grants and private foundations from going to institutions like the University of Missouri.

The crazy for-profit birthermercial we mentioned last week did indeed air on KSPR last week. The general manager for KY3, Inc. (which runs KSPR) said "the opinions of this particular program may be a minority of our viewers, but certainly I think this group has the right to express themselves. I don't think it's libelous in any fashion."
In his story, Catanese said the conspiracy theorists "may be a fringe movement," and the post on the story at The Turner Report described the birthers as the "lunatic fringe." While I certainly agree that the birthers' accusations are pure lunacy, it's important to remember that the alleged "fringe" includes a disturbing number of high-ranking leaders in the Missouri Republican Party.

Earlier this year, many in the General Assembly focused on pedestrian matters like health care, economic development or education. Others, however, fought to protect Missourians from greater threats, like fluoridation and the coercive "subcutaneous implantation of electronic tracking devices." One of the Representatives taking on the Big Issues was Jim Guest (R-King City).
Read More »Late last year, James Walbert went to court, to stop his former business associate from blasting him with mind-altering electromagnetic radiation. Walbert told the Sedgwick County, Kansas panel that Jeremiah Redford threatened him with “jolts of radiation” after a disagreement over a business deal. Later, Walbert, said, he began feeling electric shock sensations, hearing electronically generated tones, and getting popping and ringing sounds in his ears. On December 30th, the court decided in Walbert’s favor, and issued a first-of-its-kind order of protection, banning Redford from using “electronic means” to further harass Walbert. No, seriously...
Walbert’s cause is supported by Jim Guest, a Republican member of the Missouri House of Representatives. He's working on proposed legislation to addresses electronic harassment, including a bill against the forced implantation of RFID chips.
Speaker Richard "not concerned" about birther conspiracy theories
The Joplin Globe has story today on Ed Emery's acceptance of discredited Obama birth certificate conspiracy theories, and even got a response to the nonsense from House Speaker Ron Richard. From a very poorly titled article posted late last night, here's what Richard had to say:
Read More »“I don’t think it’s an issue,” said Richard, who is known for blunt reactions. “I’m not concerned about that. We have no jurisdiction to look at something like that, and I wasn’t consulted about this meeting.’’
Even though concerns over Obama’s citizenship have been widely debunked by state officials in Hawaii, and even though the U.S. Supreme Court has declined to even give the notion a thought, Emery says he remains unconvinced.
The influence of the birthers in the General Assembly
This morning, KTRS radio host Charles Jaco and Tony Messenger of the Post-Dispatch talked about yesterday's events with Orly Taitz in Jefferson City and St. Louis. Listen:
Much of their discussion focused on the influence of Taitz' followers in the House and Senate.

The same day PolitFact.com released a brand new analysis of the already-thoroughly-debunked and discredited theories about Barack Obama's American citizenship, one of the nation's top "birther" crusaders came to Missouri to rally support for her cause. The PolitiFact.com article titled, "Obama's birth certificate: Final chapter. This time we mean it!" suggests that the case is settled. And in the world of facts and documents and reality where most of us reside, it is a done deal. But I just sat through a two-hour meeting with chief birther conspiracist Orly Taitz in Jefferson City, and it's clear that she and her allies exist in an entirely different reality.
My tweets from the event are at www.twitter.com/firedupmissouri.

Undeterred by the near-universal outrage at Cynthia Davis' suggestions that poor children benefit from hunger, and that a state program to help provide health meals for low-income children is some sort of scheme designed exclusively for the purposes of expanding government, Rep. Mike McGhee (R-Odessa) has come to Davis' defense.
McGhee has penned a letter asking for Davis to remain Chair of the House Children and Families Committee, accusing everyone who disagrees with Davis' comments of taking her words out of context. Yet amazingly, McGhee admits in his letter that he doesn't know the "full gist" of why people are disgusted with Davis.
I do not know the full gist of these current allegations, but I do know the quality of character that she possesses as an individual. She is a great American citizen and an exceptional mother. She represents the families and children of Missouri with passion and dedication. Quite simply, she is the best choice to chair the House Children & Family Services Committee.

Treasonous Fired Up! bloggers not welcome at tomorrow's birther events
We finally received a response to requests for information about the July 1 meetings with Orly Taitz in St. Louis and Jefferson City.
Here's what local organizer Sarah Brooks had to say:
I am familiar with your SMEAR Journalism (sic). You are not welcome at either events (sic). If you do show up, we will be forced to call security.
Thanks,
Sarah B.
Taitz claimed on July 20 that five state representatives would be attending. She later announced the participation of Sen. Jim Lembke, but has now removed the post about Lembke from her website. We have confirmed that Rep. Mike McGhee will attend.

Suffice it to say, the identification of Fired Up! Missouri as an integral cog in the faceless, nameless, treasonous Obama enterprise has generated a bit of fan mail. It would be a shame if the work of these Constitutional Crusaders toiled in obscurity, so we figured we share some of the more passionate responses.
Heres what reader JB had to say:
Read More »I think that Sen. Lempke, Rep. Davis and Rep. Jones are heroes. There are not enough men in this country like them with enough guts to stand up for justice for the American people. Anyone with any intelligence at all can see that something is not right. What president would not want to show his original birth certificate. And why would he spend thousands of dollars to keep from showing it to the American people. Wake up America. We have been had by the far left but with people such as Dr. Orly Taitz and these senators and representative we can overcome this injustice.
Why are our leaders supporting this insanity?
Seriously: at what point does Orly Taitz's conspiracy theory crusade become too much for elected legislators to support? Sen. Jim Lembke, Rep. Mike McGhee, Rep. Tim Jones, Rep. Cynthia Davis and Rep. Casey Guernsey have all publicly supported Orly Taitz's birther lawsuits, either as plaintiffs or as exepcted guests for this week's events.
In just the past 24 hours, Taitz has written about the arrival of the American "Nazi state" and her concern with Obama's alleged homosexuality. This is what Taitz posted early this morning:
To be quite honest, I am less concerned with Sanford’s affair with a Latin beauty, as I am with Larry Sinklair’s reports about Donald Young being Obama’s homosexual lover and being found shot in the head execution style at the onset of the Democratic Primary...
As for AP and the rest of MSM, if I were to sit on their boards, I would be reading very closely and very carefully my dossiers sent to FBI, as it shows AP and the rest of MSM as employers of Barry and Michelle Obama, as reported on the Net databases. Too many way-back machines are scanning the net these days, you can’ t scrub everything and I’ll be really worried about being named as an additional defendant, if someone were to file a RICO suit...
These aren't sporadic departures from reality. It's very standard stuff from Taitz and her allies. And it can't be dismissed as just wacko internet chatter when so many members of the General Assembly choose to support this junk.

We've been writing about Orly Taitz's July 1 events in Missouri for fellow Obama birth certificate conspiracy theorists, and Taitz is not impressed. Last night on her blog, Taitz posted this about me and the Fired Up! coverage of her support from Sen. Jim Lembke, Rep. Mike McGhee, Rep. Tim Jones, Rep. Cynthia Davis and Rep. Casey Guernsey.
Please write letters of support to those State Representatives and Senator, who have the guts to stand up to usurper Obama. We are sick of Obama’s thugs, like this moron writing under firedupmissouri.com, who has no guts to even give his name . We are fed up with faceless, nameless criminals, who are hacking our blogs, changing pay-pal addresses and erasing info from the docket of the Supreme Court. I hope our law enforcement and judiciary wakes up before they are found guilty of treason together with Obama.
Updates from Jones', Davis' and Guernsey's fellow birther conspiracy wackos

We've been trying to nail down details about the July 1 birther events in St. Louis and Jefferson City, but are having trouble figuring out exactly when and where they will take place.
As we've been reporting, California lawyer and attorney Orly Taitz is leading an online and legal crusade to prove Barack Obama is not an American citizen, and that he's illegally usurped the presidency to further his "radical communist, radical Muslim" agenda. Missouri State Reps. Tim Jones, Cynthia Davis and Casey Guernsey have signed on to one of Taitz's lawsuits, and Sen. Jim Lembke and Rep. Mike McGhee are announced guests of honor at Taitz's July 1 events.

Dr. Orly Taitz, the key leader of the right-wing Birther movement, is way, way, way out there. But sadly, she's not so far out to dissuade at least four Missouri State Representatives -- and maybe more -- from actively supporting her crazy crusade.
Believe it or not, Missouri has more elected representatives participating in Taitz's lawsuit against Barack Obama than any state but Tennessee. Reps. Tim Jones, Cynthia Davis and Casey Guernsey are all listed as plaintiffs in a letter from Taitz demanding "immediate investigation and prosecution of Mr. Obama on charges of suspected fraud, perjury, forgery, identity theft and social security fraud." And to round out the bunch, Rep. Mike McGhee is reportedly scheduled to attend Taitz's upcoming St. Louis event.
Shouldn't Jones, Davis, Guernsey and any other State Representatives who actively participate in this lunacy with be held accountable their stand? How many other crazy Taitz theories are they willing to support?

Dr. Orly Taitz, the California lawyer and dentist leading the right-wing birther conspiracy theorists, claims to have five state representatives confirmed for her July 1 conspiracy rally in St. Louis. From her website:
We are getting a great turnout in MO.
50-100 in St. Louis and 50-100 in Jefferson city
Fifth State Representative has confirmed- Rep McGee (sic) 122st (sic) district
On her barely-coherent website, Taitz does not list which legislators, beyond Mike McGhee (R-Odessa), are exepcted to be at the St. Louis event. That said, Reps. Tim Jones (R-Eureka), Casey Guernsey (R-Bethany) and Cynthia Davis (R-Pluto) are on record as supporting Taitz' wacko lawsuits.
And while Barack Obama has provided an official, certified copy of his birth certificate, it's been tough to satisfy these fringe groups with the facts.

Rep. Robert Cooper has withdrawn his constitutional amendment calling for the state to inspect Barack Obama's birth certificate. As far as I know, he hasn't actually acknowledged that Obama is a legitimate President yet, but at least he's give up on writing the conspiracy theory into our constitution.
For now, anyway.
