First there was the Blunt Amendment, Roy Blunt's attempt to allow your boss to control your life, and now he's leading the republican opposition to the Violence Against Women Act. From the New York Times:
With emotions still raw from the fight over President Obama’s contraception mandate, Senate Democrats are beginning a push to renew the Violence Against Women Act, the once broadly bipartisan 1994 legislation that now faces fierce opposition from conservatives.
But then, Missouri's own junior senator goes on to say:
“Obviously, you want to be for the title,” Senator Roy Blunt of Missouri, a member of the Republican leadership, said of the Violence Against Women Act. “If Republicans can’t be for it, we need to have a very convincing alternative.”
“Our friends on the [democratic] side are in serious danger of overplaying their hand on this one,” Mr. Blunt said.
Roy Blunt thinks that democrats are in danger of overplaying their hand with regards to the Violence Against Women Act?! Excuse me?! This coming from a man who drastically overplayed his AND HIS PARTY'S hand regarding basic access to health care for not just women but for anyone who has insurance through their job.
Really, Roy? REALLY?! This would be laughable if it weren't incredibly sick.
