It's good to see Republicans like Birther Tim Jones, Auditor Tom Schweich, Sen. Tom Dempsey and richperson Sam Fox finally come out in support of a health insurance mandates.  

Tax incentives to increase health coverage used to be pretty standard fare for conservative politicians -- former Sen. Kit Bond cosponsored legislation in the 1990s with a health insurance mandate.But intellectual honesty isn't exactly in vogue in GOP circles these days. 

See, for example, candidate Mitt Romney on just about any issue that matters. 

Uberconservative gajillionaire Rex Sinquefield donated $25,000 to the Rep. Allen Icet campaign this weekend, his first direct contribution in the contest between Icet and Ambassador Thomas Schweich. 

Still, Sinquefield's late money isn't even enough to keep up with Schweich's last-minute money.  Prominent GOP donor Sam Fox donated an additional $30,000 on Friday, and Lt. Governor Peter Kinder upped his total investment to $220,000 on Thursday.

Prominent Republican donor Sam Fox, founder of Clayton-based Harbour Group and former ambassador to Belgium, is generating a lot of internet buzz over a report that he has lost faith in national GOP chairman Michael Steele.

The report was published today in Politico , the national web-based political news site. It cites sources who say that Fox has resigned from an unpaid post as co-chair of the Republican Regents — the RNC's top fundraising board.
