Why Didn't They Keep the Last Majority Honest?

As evidenced by this transcript, the people who run CNN are apparently very concerned about the leaders of our new Congress. So concerned, in fact, that they've decided to call their network's coverage of the 110th Congress "Keeping them Honest: The First 100 Hours."

Does anyone recall whether CNN centered its January 1995 Congressional coverage around the theme of keeping Newt and his Republican "revolutionaries" honest as they rolled into Washington and started selling the place off to the highest bidder? I certainly don't remember the new GOP leaders being given that sort of skeptical treatment as they took over.

Anyhow, CNN anchor and future Entertainment Tonight host Anderson Cooper described the coverage this way on the air:

You said you wanted change in Washington. You voted for a Democratic
Congress. Now they are in power. And we're here in Washington, "Keeping
Them Honest."

Guess it wasn't important to keep the previous six Republican-controlled Congresses honest, huh? If they had bothered, maybe we wouldn't be mulling what seems like the 20th "plan for victory in Iraq" right now.

Just one more reason finally to put to rest the myth of the "liberal media."
