After Endorsing Blunt, RedState Editor Unironically Says His Top 2010 Priority Is 'Beating the Republican Establishment'

In August, the Directors of Redstate.com endorsed Roy Blunt over Chuck Purgason despite "many" disagreements -- "generally fiscal and earmarks related" – because they were with Blunt "in the fight for freedom." (Read their full endorsement here).   The endorsement raised some eyebrows at the time, coming two days after editor Erick Erickson criticized RNC Chairman for his "when stuff gets in the crapper, you gotta clean it out" statement, and Blunt's many diversions from the GOP's narrow ideological path.

Today, via The Politico's Ben Smith, I see that Erickson is "girding for a civil war" in 2010.

The top priority right now is beating the Republican Establishment... The Republican Establishment wins a lot of these races like [Florida Governor Charlie] Crist against [Marco] Rubio.... The narrative is going to be from the Republican Establishment that conservatives can't win. I think we have to beat the Republican establishment and prove conservatives are still viable candidates for the Republican Party.

On what planet is Roy Blunt not the epitome of the Republican Establishment?

Here's video of Erickson's comments to the St. Petersburg Times.
