Akins Asks Crowd to Throw The "Socialists Down to Where They Belong in the River"
Via ThinkProgress, I happened upon a video of Reps. Todd Akin and Michele Bachmann (R-MN) captured outside of the U.S. Capitol last weekend. In the footage, Akin calls on the crowd to "solemnly resolve" to "send that cart of socialists down to where they belong in the river down there." I'll make the radical assumption that Akin's "cart of socialists" collected for deposit in the river is made up exclusively of Democrats.
What Akin told the crowd:
My friends, what's just been served to America is a large dose of poison. [Inaudible] But these people will find out that freedom dies hard in America.
The people decided to cast their votes -- Can you hear me? Shhhhh.
The people decided to cast their votes on the Lord's Day. He is taking notes and paying attention. We put our cares on Him as our forefathers did. We will wait and see his deliverance. But you and I, we will solemnly resolve here to do everything in our power to restore freedom and to send that cart of socialists down to where they belong in the river down there.
We will see freedom once more restored and Washington, DC, taken apart so that it no longer is a threat on American freedom and liberty. I'm going to be there. And I know Michele Bachmann's going to be there, and the doctors that have fought like mad to protect honest medicine will to be there too...
Akin and Bachmann -- quite a pair.
