At worst, the speakers argued, fascism was on the horizon. At best, this was a pivotal time in a war on Christian values. Some of the speakers split the difference.

U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann -- a favorite among conservatives -- brought hundreds here to their feet Saturday as she asserted that Americans are now witnessing a "gangster government'' controlling Washington and running the country.

Liberty University School of Law Associate Dean Matt Barber: "The sheer mechanics of homosexual conduct very naturally elicits revulsion in most rational folk. Therefore, most of us would prefer not to even imagine it, much less struggle to defend against its wholesale promotion. But regrettably, our hand has been forced."

"Yes I do think Obama's taking us into socialism. That's was socialism is, government ownership of industries and the wealth of the country so that you can move it into the pockets of your friends," [Phyllis] Schlafly said. "And that's what he's doing."
The Washington Independent: Bachmann in St. Louis: Defund the Left, Beware One-World Currency
Bachmann touched on the priorities of Republicans if they retook Congress in 2010, to "pass repealer bill after repealer bill," to prevent the creation of a one-world currency, and to pull the government back from the “36 percent of private business profits” that she claimed it now controlled. And she said Michigan residents were “depressed enough” without Gitmo prisoners being relocated to state facilities where they could inspire more terrorists.

Although she failed to once mention Antisemitism or militarism, Werthmann explained how universal healthcare, an Equal Rights Amendment, and increased taxes were telltale signs of Nazism. Werthmann also warned the audience: "If we had our guns, we would have fought a bloody battle. So, keep your guns, and buy more guns, and buy ammunition."
