Blunt Returns To Regularly Scheduled Taxpayer-Funded Mail Program
Rep. Roy Blunt's year end "Blunt Facts" mailer hit mailboxes in recent days, and it's substantively different from his previous taxpayer-financed mailing. It looks like your typical frank mail piece -- long, boring and printed (it appears) on inexpensive newsprint.
Compare this "Blunt Facts" newsletter to last week's mailer, it's all the more obvious that the snazzier energy piece was a direct response to the League of Conservation Voters' "Stain" ad -- and all about buoying his Senate campaign.
Blunt and his campaign have repeatedly identified the LCV spot as campaign ad, and Blunt has even accused the LCV of circumventing federal campaign laws in airing their commercial.
The official Blunt office still needs to answer the basic questions about their energy "issues" mailer: How much did it cost? And who organized, wrote and designed the identical pieces for Blunt and Montana Rep. Denny Rehberg?

One other possibly interesting note: The "Blunt Facts" newsletter was already scheduled to be printed and mailed when last week's more controversial mailer was delivered.
