The Plum Line has put together a helpful analysis detailing which GOP Senators currently in office have voted for measures passed via reconciliation over the last 20 years. According to their research, Sen. Kit Bond has been voting to pass legislation via reconciliation at least 11 times since 1989.
He supported:
- Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1989
- Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1990
- Balanced Budget Act of 1995
- Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996
- Balanced Budget Act of 1997
- Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997
- Marriage Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2000
- Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001 (the 2001 Bush tax cuts)
- Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2003
- Deficit Reduction Act of 2005, which reduced Medicaid spending and allowed parents of disabled children to buy into Medicaid.
- Tax Increase Prevention and Reconciliation Act of 2005, which extended the Bush tax cuts for some tax brackets.
As Greg Sargent notes, Democrats are not considering passing the whole health care reform bill. via reconciliation. It has already passed the Senate, and the Senate would only pass the "sidecar" fix via this tactic.
