Campaign Political Director Needed
The Your Vote Counts (YVC) campaign is looking for a State Political Director to manage the organization’s political and field efforts for their initiative that will appear on the 2012 general election ballot in Missouri. YVC is a broad coalition of groups from across the political spectrum who are concerned about protecting the will of the people and the integrity of the ballot initiative process.
An applicant should possess:
* More than 4 years of experience in field organizing for community or political campaigns.
* Exceptional judgment in handling sensitive organizational issues.
* Experience doing field work in elections for candidates, campaigns or organizations.
* Skills necessary to hold trainings for activists.
* Ability to work closely with staff and leadership on collaborative issues.
* Exposure to fresh and innovative ideas for organizing and mobilizing.
* Self-direction and initiative to move a new program forward.
* Flexibility to travel overnight and work long and irregular hours.
* Ability to work with individuals and groups of all political persuasions.
Responsibilities to include:
* Managing YVC’s political field efforts for the 2012 election in Missouri.
* Working closely with affiliate organizations and supporters to develop, implement, and coordinate YVC political field efforts, including but not limited to: legislative outreach, surrogate speaker outreach, days of action, voter registration, phone and mail coordination, and walk programs.
* Monitoring progress in reaching quantifiable field goals and developing tactics to reach goals, and working with affiliate’s to provide assistance on training as requested.
* Coordinating regular meetings with affiliate organizations.
* Recruiting and managing area and county coordinators.
* Planning and managing campaign events.
* Participating in political department trainings and staff meetings.
* Coordinating efforts with allies.
* Communicate regularly with campaign staff supported.
