From the Department of Totally Made Up Stuff

If you don't have anything substantive to complain about, just make something up

Saying there are “storm clouds” gathering on the horizon that could jeopardize the right to bear arms, the executive vice president of the National Rifle Association today officially endorsed U.S. Rep. Roy Blunt for Senate. It was the organization’s first senatorial endorsement in this election cycle...

LaPierre said Blunt, if elected, could stand as the last vote preventing the U.S. Senate from confirming a Supreme Court justice who favors strict gun control. Many in the crowd expressed the opinion that anti-gun ambitions in Washington are at a high.

“The current party in power would love to ban all guns,” said Tom Ward, a gun owner from Jefferson City who attended the speech. “That’s what they’re pushing to do, eliminate all firearms.”

Admittedly, I don't agree with the NRA on a number of issues.  But this talk of "storm clouds" and banning "all guns" is pure fabrication. As noted in the Tribune story quoted here, the NRA side of things has been winning a lot of court battles lately.  Moreover, if there was even a hint of a move to enact more stringent gun laws at the federal level, don't you think we would have heard a few people freaking out about it?
