Ed Martin Isn't A Liar, He Just Keeps Saying Things He Knows To Be False, Part XXVII

A new Political Fix story follows up on what's been previously reported by St. Louis Activist Hub, The Riverfront Times (here and here) and The Beacon regarding Ed Martin's multiple false claims regarding general election debates with Russ Carnahan

A better headline for this post would have been "Repeated lies aside, Carnahan will not not debate Martin tonight," but reporter Jake Wagman gets to the heart of the matter:

Despite's Martin's earlier announcement that the first of three debates between he and Carnahan would begin this evening, the Democrat's campaign agreed to no such timeline.

On Aug. 9, after both Martin and Carnahan won their respective primaries, Martin's campaign issued a news release with the subject "Debates Scheduled."

That the proposed moderator for the alleged debates was someone who had already endorsed Martin -- retired Donnybrook "provocateur" Martin Duggan --should have invited skepticism.

Carnahan, of course, didn't bite, which on Friday led the Martin campaign to issue a news release backpedaling from its original statement that the debates were set. (Subject line: Debates -- Still No Word.)

Honestly, if Ed Martin said it was raining outside, I'd need confirmation from at least three other independent sources before grabbing my umbrella.
