FBI Questions Ozark Blogger at Request of Billy Long's Official Office
KY3 and KSPR are reporting tonight that Clay Bowler, the Southwest Missouri blogger behind last year's Billy Long is Wrong website, was visited this week by an FBI agent and Greene County Sheriff at the request of Billy Long's Congressional staff. Greene County Sheriff Jim Arnott told KSPR that "federal officials alerted him to several people who were worrisome to Long," including Bowler.
We obviously want law enforcement to take credible threats to officials seriously.
However, KY3 reports that in a recording of the FBI interview with Bowler, "the agent said he believes Bowler doesn't appear to be a personal threat to Rep. Long." If it turns out that Long or his office provided Bowler's name to law enforcement authorities simply because he wrote unflattering things on the internet and asked tough questions at campaign events, that would be quite troubling.
