GOP launching rebranding campaign inside the beltway

Like something straight out of The Onion, national Republicans are announcing a new rebranding campaign today with the creation of the "National Council for a New America."  Fresh faces on the Council include:

  • Sen. John McCain
  • Jeb Bush
  • Mitt Romney
  • Sen. Mitch McConnell
  • Sen. Jon Kyl
  • Sen. Lamar Alexander
  • Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal
  • Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour
  • Rep. John Boehner
  • Rep. Pete Sessions
  • Rep. Roy Blunt

Interestingly, RNC Chairman Michael Steel has not been invited to participate.

Their first order of business?  A meeting in Arlington, Virginia, inside the Capitol Beltway. We'll all be blown away with "new ideas" from these dudes, I'm sure. My best guess is that the rebranding conversations will go a lot like this:

Roy Blunt's replacement as House Minority Whip, Eric Cantor, is organizing the rebranding campaign. Blunt, himself an expert on spearheading worthless working groups, calls the organization "another place [where] national party leaders can create a synergy with House members and the public to discuss ideas."
