Gov. Nixon directing state agencies to reduce energy use

Good for the planet and good for the bottom line:

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon is telling all state agencies to reduce their energy use.

He made the announcement today at an Energy Summit in Columbia.

The Governor signed Executive Order 09-18, directing all state agencies whose building management falls under the direction of the Office of Administration to put policies in place that will reduce energy use by 2-percent per year for each of the next 10 years.

Nixon said the state estimates that drop in energy use will save Missouri taxpayers more than $1 million in the first year alone.
