Heinous Hypocrisy
The next time Roy Blunt and his Republican colleagues complain that are a lot of pages in the House Democrats' health care bill, he should be asked to explain what's changed since November 2003, and explain why he's not an enormous, gargantuan hypocrite. Recall:
"We're going to be working hard with them to answer their questions. We don't expect any of them to have a chance to read a 1,100-page bill."
That's what Roy Blunt said about the still-not-paid-for Medicare prescription drug bill that he, Tom Delay and Dennis Hastert railroaded through the House in late 2003.
So not only was the bill long (the horror!), but he explicitly stated that his members wouldn't be able to read all of the pages.
