Jericho Leaves KSGF, Team Blunt Rejoices

KY3's Dave Catanese reported last night that right-wing radio host Vincent David Jericho is no longer working for KSGF, based in Springfield.  Jericho, you may remember, made national news with RNC Chairman Michael Steele in August; Jericho accused Rep. Roy Blunt of infidelity and said former Governor Matt Blunt "betrayed every single Missourian that worked so hard to get him elected."

From Catanese's story about Jericho's departure from KSGF:

In August, Jericho, who had been on the air with KSGF for more than five years, made national news during an interview with Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele. Steele said he agreed with the often bombastic host on a point he was making about politicians "who can't behave themselves." "When stuff gets in the crapper, you got to clean it out," said Steele, leaving the impression to many that he was referring directly to Congressman Roy Blunt.

Jericho has also been a vociferous critic of Blunt and 7th District executive director Mavis Busiek. "If you don't kiss Mavis Busiek's ring, and if you aren't 800 years old, they don't let you in," Jericho said on his program during the Steele interview.

Listeners were 'left with the impression' that Jericho and Steele were talking about Blunt, because, you know, Jericho was talking about Blunt, and Steele agreed with him.

As Catanese reported in August after the interview, Steele's interview with Jericho illustrated the "rift between some grass-root, populist conservatives and establishment Republicans in Southwest Missouri."

The fracas over Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele's appearance on Vincent David Jericho's radio program illustrates the power of political exaggeration as well as a more instructive rift between some grass-root, populist conservatives and establishment Republicans in Southwest Missouri.

And Jericho's repeated inflammatory statements about Congressman and U.S. Senate candidate Roy Blunt also presents a tricky tightrope for the GOP candidates running to replace him...

Steele's initial response -- "I mean, I agree with you" -- is earning himself political fire from Democrats and scorn from some Missouri Republicans. "When stuff gets in the crapper, you got to clean it out," said Steele, leaving the impression to many that he was referring directly to Blunt.

"I'm very disappointed," said 7th Congressional District executive director Mavis Busiek. "I do not think Mr. Steele had a handle on the situation. A journalist never has the right to attack a person's character on something he knows nothing about. Mr. Steele should've put a stop to it right then and there and ended the interview abruptly," Busiek added.

Former Blunt chief of staff Gregg Hartley wrote on Twitter that Steele should apologize to Blunt and resign over the remarks.

Another Republican operative muttered that Steele helped cut "an automatic commercial," for Blunt's 2010 Democratic rival, Robin Carnahan.

It's still not clear why Jericho has left KSGF, or if he'll be moving his show to another station.

bye to jerko the nut job

this guy sucked when he was on thanks to the great KSGF for grtting rid of this rush want-a-be hes a tallantless schmuck,,oh if you have sleeping problems then check out his web show you'll fall fast asleep BORING

Highly Disappointed

I can't even begin to express how incredibly dissapointed I am to hear that Jericho has left KSGF. Honestly, it makes me want to stop listening to KSGF all together. If their hosts can't stand up for what they believe in and practice their right to free speech, how can we as listeners truly trust that that is what KSGF stands for in the first place? Where was the backing of KSGF for Jericho? They seem to be falling victim to that same old station cliche and bowing down when they should be standing up.

It seems like journalism in general has fallen into the proverbial toilet and is no longer the Fourth Estate that it used to be. It's a disgrace to the memory of great journalists and people who have stood for what they believed in like Edward R. Murrow. I'll bet Murrow is rolling in his grave at how low CBS and journalism in general has sunk. It seems as though the Power of the Press is no more. All that are left are a bunch of lackeys that kiss the rear of the most popular liberal they can find.

On the subject of the Blunts, I believe that Jericho had every right to say what he said because of one thing: It's true. People rarely like the version of truth about themselves that isn't sugar coated. If they did pressure to have Jericho fired, they do not deserve to hold public office. They do not deserve to represent Missouri or our Nation. Roy Blunt has already shown his lack of morality or values by simply betraying his wife. How can we trust him to help our country when he can't even be trusted to value the sanctity of marriage?

It is up to the People to remind them who they truly work for: Us. The People need to stand up and use the power of the Vote and clean this mess our Country is in up. We need to start voting for people who have values, integrity, and simple honesty. I for one will be using my vote to help our country and clean out the corruption. We need to revive the dream our founding fathers had, and get back to being The United States of America and stop trying to ruin our country by walking on liberal, politically correct eggshells.

I'll miss Jericho on the radio*

I admit I will miss listening to Jericho on the radio.  It was so funny when he had Bill Frist on his show.  Frist sounded like a pompous and pretentious snob blaming others for his own failure.  In other words, Frist sounded like an elected GOP leader.

Jericho was useful in pointing out to conservatives the GOP leadership was a say one thing do another type of group, leading their followers into the abyss.

How long until the GOP leadership takes over the Tea Partiers and turns them into cheerleaders for the self serving GOP establishment?

*of course I disagreed with him on a whole lot of issues.
