Key Vote With Big State Budget Implications Coming Up In US Senate
The Hill reports today that the U.S. Senate could hold a cloture vote as soon as Monday for a bill that includes enhanced federal Medicaid funding for states. According to the paper, "the FMAP [Federal Medical Assistance Percentages]provision mirrors the phased-down increase in enhanced Medicaid funding that was included in the most recent version of the defeated tax extenders package."
The decision on the FMAP formula will have huge implications for upcoming state budget(s), and passage of the legislation could help make up a significant portion of the expected shortfalls to come.
