The Star's Barb Shelly on today's "ethics" bill hijinks:
Oh, come on.
Missouri House Republicans have set a new bar for skulduggery and cynicism with their latest attempt at an "ethics" bill. It was passed out this morning by the Rules Committee, and is expected to be debated on the House floor today as an add-on to a Senate bill dealing with bidding.
Actually, it is very wrong to call this piece of work an ethics bill. It is rather a vehicle for some of the craziest GOP causes to come down the pike this session...
[A]nything constructive in this bill is vastly overshadowed by its many outrages. This is a sorry show of gamesmanship that speaks badly of Missouri government.
