Nixon & Bond Execute Failed Power Play To Dethrone Richard

I read Tony Messengers' column about Parents As Teachers' deep budget cuts with great interest this morning.  My mom is a parent educator and state trainer for PAT, and I'm a new parent and participant myself.  I can tell you the reductions in state funding and are very real.

However, I must take issue with a gross factual error in the column. Messenger describes Kit Bond and Jay Nixon as "arguably the most powerful politicians in Missouri" -- I'm quite confident this is false, and that no serious observer of Show-Me State politicians would make such an argument.  The Most Powerful Man in Missouri is Speaker Ron Richard -- obviously.
