It is remarkable to hear the powerfully compelling voices of people who say they were once Republicans (Lincoln Chafee), or were raised in conservative families (Maria Ciano), or aren't particularly political (Tammy Duckworth, Stacey Lihn, Elaine Brye). The stories they told about their lives, their values, and their hopes all align with Obama's vision (as presented tonight) and with the Democratic party platform. I suggest YouTubing these folks' speeches, too. There is never the suggestion here in Charlotte that all is well, only that many things are mostly better. I like the reasonableness of this.
