Opinion on HB 1233 from an actual foster youth over 12

This bill is ridiculous. Anyone who would support it is as well. I have been in the system for over a year, I was sixteen at my first court date. I was scared and unsure of what was going to happen. My GAL was there for me, before court and in court, to help me and advocate for what was best for me.  Not a single person who has not been in the system or had a child in the system could really know what it is like to have your future decided for you in a court room. Most of the time being taken from your parents is not a pleasant thing and neither is court.  I understand that court is a necessity for all foster youth and that if it is that traumatic of an experience they do not have to go. Children over the age of twelve do not suddenly possess a magical power and confidence that enables them to easily advocate for themselves. Personally, I think everyone needs an advocate in the court room, no matter what your age. We need our GAL's as much as adults in court rooms need their lawyers.

Please help me and spread the word about stopping this bill.
