P-D dumbfounded by Cynthia Davis' hunger for hunger
The Post-Dispatch has picked up on Rep. Cynthia Davis' (R-Pluto) crusade against healthy meals for poor children -- as first reported here on Fired Up! -- and they're not impressed.
Oblivious to the needs of Missouri’s hungry children
State Rep. Cynthia Davis, R-O’Fallon, is staking out a strong position on child hunger: She’s for it.“Hunger can be a positive motivator,” she notes in the latest edition of her newsletter.
More precisely, Ms. Davis is against summer feeding programs for poor kids. They are an excuse “to create an expansion of a government program,” she says.
The editorial rightly crushes Davis for her cruel/insane/awful opposition to summer feeding programs for poor children. But the best part of the piece is the reworking of Cynthia's proverb for healthy living. As you may recall, Davis wrote:
Tip: If you work for McDonald’s, they will feed you for free during your break.
To which the Post-Dispatch responded:
Tip: When you chair a state special committee on children and families, you probably ought to learn something about the needs of children and families.
Well played. Such complaints about committee assignments should be directed to Speaker Ron Richard, State Capitol, Room 308.

I bet Davis also believes
I bet Davis also believes it's better if poor children receive no health care, either -- why burden the taxpayer when thinning the herd by allowing the poor and weak to die off is so much better for society?
Why doesn't the State of
Why doesn't the State of Missouri quit wasting oil too! Big Government shouldn't be reading dipsticks. It is $70 a barrel. If State vehicles run a couple of Quarts low...so be it.A Destroyed engine can be a positive motivator too.

Cynthia's Diet
Has Representative Davis ever submitted a state expense account which included meals? Has she ever accepted a meal from a lobbyist or some other person who wanted to talk to her about legislation or her work as a legislator that was then submitted as work product and a tax deduction?
If so, then why would she deny poor kids food?
As Jesus said, "When I was hungry, you gave me food," or something to that effect. Does that provide Christian Cindy any info on what Jesus thought was important?
Sorry for all the rhetorical questions.
Great going Cynthia!
Great going Cynthia!

Way to Go, Cynthia!
We need to get tough on these little urchins. Next thing you know, they'll be wanting health care. They need to learn early that there's no such thing as a free lunch.
Better yet, let's put these kids back to work in the factories like they did in the good old days. Just because their parents are druggies, jobless, ner-do-wells, why should their kids benefit from a free summer lunch?
Three Cheers and a Bah-hum-bug for Cynthia.
The Shame of Withholding Food
Call me old fashioned ... but feeding poor, hungry kids seems like one of the more fundamental tasks of our society and one most reasonable people could agree on.
Basic nutrition for youngsters is an investment in the future, not some reward given to those who merit Ms. Davis's approval.
One Thing About Cynthia ...
Yes, there's one thing you can say for Cynthia: She always gives us "Food for Thought."
Is that even true?
Will McDonald's give you a free meal during a break? I've worked at a few food establishments when I was younger, and I never got a free meal. Discounted, but not free.
Yes, it's true
that Cynthia is waaaay out there on this.
But I don't know about the free meals. Would anyone be shocked if she didn't even have that right?
Let's "Hunger-board" Cynthia
Looking at Cynthia, I'd say she hasn't missed too many meals. So, how about Cynthia and her family living on a poor child's diet for a while and calculating the nutrition and side effects for us?
Hunger does not cause government programs, sweetie, it causes pains in a child's stomach, stunted growth, and a poor attention span.
