A Profound Moment

To be fair, standing up for truth could have caused a real conundrum for Republicans. Some have been actively propagating the lie, and others just chose to let it slide. 

Here in Missouri, for example, Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer write about how the government could start "encouraging assisted suicide or other forms of euthanasia," Congressional candidate Ed Martin said the reform plans equaled euthanasia and State Rep. Cynthia Davis told constituents the reform bills will "encourage people to die prematurely."  And when given a clear opportunity to take a stand against the obvious falsehood, Rep. Roy Blunt said it's "easy" for the death panel debate "to go either way."

So, they sat for a lie.
