Schweich May Be Interested In New Deal For Clean Shot at St. Louis Area House Seat
Fortuitously located Capitol sources overheard a conversation yesterday between the camps of Peter Kinder and Allen Icet discussing a possible deal in which Thomas Schweich would abandon the State Auditor's race and be a replacement candidate in House District 84 (Icet's current district).
There's only one candidate in the HD84 race now, Dan Gosen, who could be replaced on the ballot with relative ease.
Schweich, Kinder, Roy Blunt and other top Missouri GOP leaders were party to a deal in June 2009 in which Schweich quit the U.S. Senate race (to Blunt's relief), and sought the Auditor job. Icet, of course, was not party to that deal, which seems to have Schweich really steamed.
Kinder expressed some excitement about a potential deal yesterday on his Twitter feed.
