If you live in Congressman Ike Skelton's district (CD4), you might want to know that there are currently 95,00 individuals uninsured in the 4th District, 17% of the district residents under age 65. The Affordable Health Care for America Act could cover 61,000 people who are without coverage (CBO estimates).

The Act will:

  • Improve employer based coverage for 390,000 residents.
  • Provide credits to help pay for coverage for up to 187,000 households.
  • Improve Medicare for 120,000 beneficiaries, including closing the prescription drug donut hole for 11,000 seniors.
  • Allow 15,700 small businesses to obtain affordable health care coverage and provide tax credits to help reduce health insurance costs for up to 14,900 small businesses.
  • Protect up to 1,200 families from bankruptcy due to unaffordable health care costs.
  • Reduce the cost of uncompensated care for hospitals and health care providers by $135 million.
