Some musings about the state of affairs in the Capital of the State of Missouri

I heard a story
And it’s not pretty
It’s set in a town
Called Jefferson City
A place where confusion and chaos reign

There are two houses
And they can’t do
Anything for me
Or a thing for you
Their actions seem to all be in vain

Both houses are run
By the very same crew
Fighting ‘mongst themselves
‘Bout what they should do
To help soothe our state’s financial strain

Out of ideas
They’ve nothing to say
And Moral stances
Just won’t play
‘Cause they are wearing corruption’s stain

Business is a thing
They claim to know
But management skills
They don’t ever show
Their credibility down the drain

They can’t get along
Amongst their own kind
A single issue
They can’t even find
To call their own in the next campaign

Health care they don’t care
They want “sunshine” gone
No new energy
They are big oil’s pawn
That they look down on voters is plain

I sit and wonder
How long it can last
To stand for nothing
Both now and the past
A party that can only complain

Time to be working
So in twenty-ten
Honest and sincere
New women and men
Will renew our state and ease our pain
