Taking Back America, One Hate-Filled Workshop At A Time

The Beacon's Jo Mannies bravely attended the How to Take Back America conference yesterday, and helpfully shares outlines a number of the key themes from some of the presenters. Notably:

  • The core of the abortion agenda includes an effort to "exterminate an ethnic people."
  • "Homosexual behavior will always be destructive, wrong and dangerous."
  • Obama is like Hitler.
  • Washington stains the soul.

Ironically, Mannies notes, Friday's "biggest cheers" went to Samuel Wurzelbacher (aka Joe the Plumber), who said Washington, DC "stains the soul" and is full of "manipulative" people.  Maybe it's just me, but such statements are downright odd when one considers all of the incumbent and aspiring DC Republicans flocking to the event -- people like Todd Akin, Ed Martin and Vicky Hartzler.

For those of you unsure about How To Take Back America, here are a few things you may not have realized before today.

The "core of the abortion agenda" includes an effort to "exterminate an ethnic people."

Conference leaders offer a similar approach when it comes to the conservative quest to outlaw abortion. During a workshop, attendees are to be encouraged to watch "MAAFA 21," a new movie that asserts that abortion providers are targeting African Americans.

"At the core of the abortion agenda is to actually exterminate an ethnic people," said Janet Folger Porter, co-chair of the convention and a leader of Faith2Action, a conservative family resource group.

Porter contended that up to 16 million African Americans have been aborted since the Supreme Court legalized most abortions in 1973. That means, she said, that "25 percent of the African American population has been exterminated since Roe vs. Wade."

"Homosexual behavior will always be destructive, wrong and dangerous."

"We've circled the wagons defending the word 'marriage,' " said Matt Barber, a leader in Virginia's conservative "Liberty Council."

"We need to highlight the fact that homosexual behavior will always be destructive, wrong and dangerous. It's time for fighting back against homosexual behavior."

To do that, Barber said, conservatives need to be more specific about what homosexuality entails.

[What, specifically, would an increase in specificity entail?]

God loves America more than God loves anyone else.

Freedom, said [U.S. Rep Steve King, R-Iowa], was a gift of God, not government. And he said the United States holds a special place in history for a biblical reason. "This 'American exceptionalism' is not an accident,'' King said, but the result of "divine guidance."

Barack Obama's actions "mirror" those of Adolf Hitler.

Kitty Werthmann, head of Eagle Forum's South Dakota chapter, said at Friday's opening-day news conference that she viewed Obama's actions as mirroring those of Nazi Germany.

Werthmann, 83, grew up in Austria and recounted how the Nazis -- who were fascists -- took over that country. "First they nationalized the banks. Then they nationalized education," she said. "As time went along, they nationalized health care."

Werthmann recalled that the Nazis also exhorted the public that "we should only listen to Hitler. He is our future."

"Last, was gun registration and confiscation," Werthmann said.

Werthmann is leading a workshop Saturday entitled, "How to Recognize Living Under Nazis and Communists."

And that's just the first day of the conference.

Just another weekend in the Republican Party.

Rallies

As a conservative voter I like the idea of these types of rallies for conservative issues to make sure the political representatives in D.C. are listening. But I do not like the harshness we hear at some of these events. Although I see nothing wrong with the abortion comments you quoted, other comments are over the top. Obama is not Hitler, and homosexuals are not "hated" (disagreeing with that lifestyle does not mean hatred). I agree with you that these extreme chants and posters do not help the cause. But the cause itself is very legitimate. online casino
