In 2007 the vice president for administration and governmental affairs comments that he did not think that the booster club should see the administration supervising and auditing the booster club as onerous. Then the administration was going to make sure that the booster club was run in a professional manner.
A State audit of the college is started in 2008. The Booster club must be audited as part of the State’s audit of Three Rivers Community College. The booster club is a political subdivision of the college and comes under the administration of the college. This was entirely fair and appropriate.
The audit discovers that the booster club helped pay for dental care for an athlete in pain. In the past the college has provided healthcare to the athletes. This was prior to the political machine’s attempt to destroy athletics at the college. It is permissible for the college to provide healthcare to the athletes. Because the booster club is now a part of the college and not an third party, the booster club may pay for dental care.
The audit happens and it is discovered that the booster club has paid for an athlete to get dental care. If the leakers wait until the audit is over it may come out that this is allowed. The confidential government report must be prematurely leaked to a newspaper in order to embarrass the booster club! Other colleges reading the paper let the NJCAA know that the booster club paid for athletic health care, not allowed by third parties outside of the college, and the leakers get their way. If the information had been truly damaging and accurate then the leakers would have waited until audit was finished and made public. A board member suspiciously says he will work against his own college and athletic program and not help with an appeal founded on the fact that the complaint against the boosters was based on incomplete information from the leaked audit.

Why wait for a rough draft to even leak the audit? Leak that there is a shocking audit of the booster club and that it will be the undoing of the coach. Why would it be the undoing of the coach? The college is in charge of providing oversight to the booster club and to make sure that it is run in a professional manner. The experts running the college are to make sure that the amateurs of the booster club do not make a mistake. Did the administration, once again, lead the booster club to believe that something was okay and then, when the administration makes a mistake, say that the booster club did it and take no responsibility? Truman said that the buck stops here. Will the administration take responsibility if there is anything wrong and work to fix any problems? Will the administration, or members of the political machine that let me know that they are still really running the show by proxy, use the opportunity to embarrass rather than mend the problem?

How can the outcome of the audit be already known before the audit is complete unless it is a setup? I hope the political machine is only claiming to know that this audit will be damaging to the booster club, athletics, and the college and have not already been told what will be found whether it is there or not. If it is known what is there, then why has the problem not been fixed but is instead being used to embarrass? If there is anything there at all.
