Under a Towel: Why is Schweich hiding his campaign finances?

According to a first-hand account of his locker-room presser, Tom Schweich is spending money for a State Auditor's race.  Specifically, he is paying an internet vendor for a campaign website.

And yet, Schweich has yet to establish a campaign finance committee with the State Ethics Commission.  The Missouri Ethics Law requires Schweich to establish a committee and report his finances once he  "receives contributions or makes expenditures...  with the intent to promote [his] candidacy for office"

You would expect more from the e-steamed Ambassador in Residence at the Washington University School of Law.  Absolutely mind-blowing.

Also, for what it’s worth …

I voted for Susan Montee. Tom Schweich strikes me as a decent human being, though. Depending on what Susan and Tom have to say during the campaign, I might vote for him.

If you want to do some actual reporting, you should try contacting Tom yourself, instead of reading things into what some guy says he heard in a locker room.

And who uses the term “internet vendor”? Yes, I’d like to buy an internet please.

Oh, good grief.

Who said that he'd already spent money on his campaign site?

Just because he has someone lined up doesn't mean that he's given them a check yet.  When I do sites for people, I don't get paid until the site is done.

Enough with the reporting by innuendo.

Dude, campaign expenses are reported when incurred...

.... not when a law breaking law prof writes the check.

Again ...

Who says that the expense for the website has been incurred?

Just because you've talked to a company about creating a site for you doesn't mean they've done any work on it or that they've billed you.

The Defendant can explain all that to the AP and Ethics Comm.
