What Am I Missing Here?
Yesterday, at his still-hilarious anti-billboard press conference, Roy Blunt expressed outrage at any suggestion that he's taken "$556,682 from the insurance industry," because, in his words, "you can't take any money from the insurance industry."
And then, without a hint of irony, Blunt demanded that Robin Carnahan's "supporters ought to explain why she's taking this insurance industry money."
So it's impossible for Roy Blunt to take "insurance industry money," but reporters ought to look into Carnahan's "insurance industry money"? Am I thinking about this too logically?
Also, it's amusing to see KY3's Dave Catanese note that the insurance industry numbers on the Pro-Vote billboard included life, auto and property insurance interests, but then dutifully post a list of supposedly-analogous Carnahan contributions provided by "the Blunt campaign" that included money from -- you guessed it -- life, auto and property insurance interests. The News-Leader seems to have made the same mistake, describing the list provided by the Blunt campaign as including "$11,300 in contributions from health insurance industry lobbyists."
Understandably, while the KY3 post listed all of the insurance industry donations the Blunt campaign could find for her (totaling around $10,000 $11,300), he chose to only list a handful of the insurance industry money from Blunt. Including all of the $550,000+ donations would have just taken too much space.

Press Alert!!!
I think we're seeing some slippage in Roy Blunt's cognizant reasoning skills. The press might want to stay alert to this in the future.
