Snagged by Rachel

Don’t you just love Rachel Maddow?  When it comes to mouthy hypocrites, she cuts them no slack.  Take Rep. Bart Stupak, for instance, the backbench congressman whose latest abortion stunt has put him on television most evenings.

This week Rachel gave the demagoging Democrat something more to think about than his talking points and interview schedule.  The MSNBC anchor turned the spotlight onto Stupak himself, when she revealed that he lied about the details of his seven-year connection to the C-Streeters and the political cult known as The Family.

“Who’s paying your rent?” she inquired after pointing out that Stupak has been living in a lovely C Street townhouse just blocks from the Capitol and paying a mere $600 a month for this convenience that comes with room cleaning, Bible classes, and an occasional sex scandal. Though like any good interrogator, Maddow undoubtedly knows the answer to her question already—or has suspicions.

Don’t look for Rachel to let up anytime soon.  She’s a pit bull when it comes to tearing into the politically duplicitous.  After having the seat of his pants ripped by the feisty television anchor, Mr. Stupak may want to return to his dim backbench seat.  But if we’re lucky, Michigan voters will  invite the congressman to return home this fall, where he can spend his spare time picketing abortion clinics while enjoying the benefits of his government health care plan.

For those who find Stupak, his amendment, and his Gang of 12 or 9 or 6—or whatever—offensive, you will be glad his antics have drawn him a primary opponent, who decided to confront the nine-term congressman because of his showboating on the health care bill.
