Re: U.S. Attorney Todd Graves
=================================
Today's NY Times indicates that federal prosecutors looking into the activities of Jack Abramoff are likely to take an interest in the transactions between the political committees of Majority Leader Roy Blunt and Rep. Tom DeLay.
From the NY Times story:
Documents unearthed this week and reported by The Associated Press and PoliticalMoneyLine, a research group, revealed fund-raising tactics used by Mr. DeLay in 2000 that could draw additional scrutiny.
The documents showed that a committee operated by Mr. DeLay for the Republicans' 2000 convention in Philadelphia diverted tens of thousands of dollars to other organizations run by the former majority leader and his allies, including Representative Roy Blunt, the Missouri Republican who assumed Mr. DeLay's duties after his indictment.
Please be advised that the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, Todd Graves, has a serious conflict of interest and should be shielded from any such inquiry as he could reasonably be expected to be compelled to appear before a grand jury on this matter.
During the 2000 election, Mr. Graves was a candidate for State Treasurer of Missouri. On multiple occassions during his campaign, Mr. Graves was a beneficiary of the money laundering scheme that Mr. Blunt, Mr. DeLay, and Mr. Abramoff used to direct corporate contributions to the benefit of candidates for state office and other questionable activities.
On March 31 2000, The Rely On Your Beliefs Committee (ROYB), a committee controlled by Blunt, Â received a $50,000 contribution from ARMPAC-Convention, a committee controlled by DeLay.Â
On May 9th, 2000, ROYB made a contribution to the 7th District Congressional Republican Committee, another committee controlled by Blunt. The 7th District committee in turn made a contribution to the campaign of Todd Graves in the amount of $5,000 on May 17, 2000.
In October 13, 2000, ROYB contributed $15,000 to the 7th District Committee. On October 6, 2000, the 7th District Committee made a $2,000 contribution to the campaign of Todd Graves.
In addition, Graves' campaign was the beneficiary of support from the Missouri Republican Party, which received $50,000 directly from the PAC of Rep. Tom DeLay and even more indirectly, via the contributions from ROYB.
But there is an addtional conflict of interest for Mr. Graves. Governor Matt Blunt has awarded a highly lucrative no-bid contract to Mr. Graves wife. The revenue stream from this no-bid contract far surpasses his salary from the Department of Justice.
Please take every precaution necessary to preserve the integrity of this investigation, and to ensure that the public has confidence that justice is being pursued in this matter.

DELAY/BLUNT/BLUNT
We all know this is plain and nasty money laundering. From what I've read, ultimately $160,000 wound up in Baby Blunt's campaign fund. Isn't this something the Missouri Ethics Committee should be looking into? Gracie

So Baby Blunt had his hands in the Delay Cookie jar as well. I am not surprised Like Father like Son. Makes one wonder what other influence Delay or Bush has had on elctions in Missouri. I find in extremely interesting that Senator Bond will not respond to any communication that questions Bush, the Iraq War or other policies of this administration. Yet when Clinton was President, Senator Bond frequently responded to me with the Republican leanings.Â
It is scary that neither Bush or Cheney will hold a public meeting without first vetting the audience to ensure there are no dissenters. If a person lies and laters dissents, they are removed immediately. This does not sound like the open and free nation that was taught when I was in public school.Â
Now we have Matt Blunt that has done all he can to destroy Missouri. State License Bureaus are now Fee Basis offices operated by Matt's political appointees. I wonder what all Matt will or has changed to political appointment. Is his marriage a traditional marriage or was his wife and son political appointments?Â
It will be interessting to see what Matt Blunt or his Republican handlers can come up with for the State of Missouri.

Fee offices ARE political appointments and always have been
I am getting pretty sick and tired of you left-wing psychos beating this license fee office issue into the ground! The governor has and always has had the authority to appoint fee agents! That is the law! The fact of the WHOLE matter is that you radical left wingers cannot stand the fact that you have no power in this state any longer! You people are sore losers...simple as that! So with that fact stated simply, my advice to you would GET OFF THE GOVERNOR'S BACK and let him clean up the mess that Bob and Mel created!
Slight fact corrections - branch lincense offices privitized
Wheels
you might want to pull up a bit. Yes, the fee offices have always been
patronage. BUT, Skippy and his DOR hatchet women also closed and
shuttered the all the Motor Vehicle Branch offices in St Louis and KC.Â
These offices employed may fine public employees a lot of whom were
close to retirement. A few did find jobs at the fee offices that
replaced them. Lower wages and no benefits. Many of the locations
moved into much smaller facitilites with fewer employes. The results
long lines and wait times.
I
do not consider it radical to expect that the so called compassionate
conservatives treat state employees with the same consideration and
compassion that they treat the priviledge few.

Wheels, you crack me up.
I really am enjoying your use of 'left wing' as an (attempted) insult. You're unhinged.
Cleaning up messes? Seems the boy guv is too busy making his own mess of Missouri.
Are only Democrats held to "Caesars Wife" standards?
I don't care to what party someone belongs, if they breach the ethics of their office, hold their feet to the fire until they blister.  It is that simple.
Roy, you've hit the big time! You have trolls!

I am sure he is a busy man...
...that does not need to have his time wasted by this letter...  look into it, nothing was illegal. Learn the laws in Missouri before penning ridiculous letters such as this.Â
"A pig, in a cage, on antibiotics"
Hey genius.....
Your busy buddy Alberto doesn't enforce Missouri law. The ones Roy B. and Tom and Jack may have been breaking were those great big FEDERAL ones.
Yes, he's busy...
...writing memoranda to the President on how they can legitimize and justify the torture of enemy prisoners of war.
It'd be a shame if we pulled him away from that.
