Ed Martin's Peculiar Personnel Management Habits

This interesting tidbit from a downright bizarre Jo Mannies blogpost on the Blunt administration's firing of Sunshine Law whistleblower Scott Eckersley (emphasis added):

On Sept. 26, Martin holds his first meeting with Eckersley. That's where the initial questions are asked of Eckersley about his personal behavior (Eckersley said he was asked if he'd been drinking "as a Mormon, he doesn't drink" and whether he was dating anyone in the office. He wasn't.)

Martin asked Eckersley whether he was dating anyone in the office?  What does Ed Martin care about the circumstances of Scott Eckersley's dating?  Is he some kind of pervert looking to pry into people's bedrooms (Wait, of course he is...)?

Interested in his or her dating activity?  Or former Blunt staffers, perhaps?  The anonymous tip line is always open...

UPDATE, 9:15pm:  A wise correspondent rightly notes via email that the real upshot of Jo's post is that Crazy Eddie Martin was in full-on witch hunt mode by September 26th --having his first conversation with Eckersley in an obvious fishing expedition-- despite the fact that he'd made the decision to fire Eckersley days earlier.  Everything that took place after September 22 was essentially a post-facto search for a pretext which the Governor could cite in Eckersley's firing.
