While there is still considerable disagreement on the amount, one thing was made clear during the special House committee on ethics reform’s discussion this morning: There will be campaign finance limits in the bill the committee passes.
For the past couple of days, the committee has hashed out consensus on several issues as it discusses various proposals to change campaign finance law, disclosure and conflict of interest laws in Missouri.
Remarkably, the discussion on agreeing on instituting some sort of new campaign finance limits didn’t take long.
Both chairman Kevin Wilson, R-Neosho, and Democrat Rep. John Burnett, D-Kansas City, started off the discussion by saying they agreed some sort of limit should be in place.
Any bill that passes the House committee has a long way to go before passing both chambers, but this is certainly a step in the right direction.
