Garrett Lott Watch

Garrett Lott's name keeps coming up in various posts. I thought it might be helpful to have a single location where folks could find info about Garrett's activities.

Lott of Trouble

A troubling series of events:

  • Blunt paid Lott about $21,000 out of his original candidate committee for "compliance" in December 2004-January 2005. $16,000 of that on January 14, 2005.

  • On January 20th Blunt organized his going forward candidate committee, Missourians for Matt Blunt, Inc. (note the left slant signature). While the Committee's Treasurer and Deputy Treasurer office in Springfield, the Official Depository of the Committee is the Clayton Commerce Bank. Located at 8000 Forsyth, the bank is just two short blocks from Lott's office at 147 Meramec.

All this raises some very serious questions about potential criminal activity:

Is the no-bid fee agent contract from Blunt to Lott designed to compensate Lott for his ongoing political work as President/Secretary of Missourians for Blunt?

Will the remaining profits from the South County Office be rolled back into the Missouri Republican Party or some other Blunt committee?

Missourians deserve to know the truth.

More Evidence of Potential Criminal Activity

A very compelling piece of additional evidence:

According to this Associated Press story, Garrett Lott and Blunt fundraiser, Karen Mohan Day, work as a team.

That makes sense.  Up to January 2005, they were both paid by the Blunt campaign.  But after Blunt gave Lott a lucrative no-bid fee office appointment, Lott fell off the Blunt campaign payroll, while Mohan Day kept getting paid.

Is that because Lott's political work is now compensated through a state contract?

Mason Enterprises a "finance business?"

I wonder who told David Lieb at AP that Mason Enterprises was a finance business in this story from last year?

"We need to focus on and prioritize education, not just make education into a political issue, and not use education as leverage to compel Missourians to increase their own tax burden," Blunt said, speaking at Mason Enterprises, a finance business in the St. Louis suburb of Clayton.

Apparently, this finance business makes robocalls for political parties. (see next entry)  The story should have just said, "in a speech at his other campaign headquarters."

Garrett's Doing Robocalls for the GOP

Apparently, when he's not working on his fee offices, or fulfilling his duties as Treasurer to half the Republicans in MO, Garrett is busy making robocalls for the MO GOP.

Garrett's New PAC

Say what, Garrett Lott?

So Roy, what's going on here?  On the report you link it looks like $100,000 is coming into this PAC from the Republican Leadership Committee and then going right back out on the same day to the Missouri Republican Party.  What's the point of doing it that way, you think?  Is it just another way to obfuscate and confuse to make it harder to track the money?

A Trip to the Laundromat

The mafia calls that "making a trip to the laundromat."

Is Karen Mohan Day related to James Day?

James Day was given the Creve Coeur License Office.  Is he an attorney? Karen Mohan Day & Garrett Mason Lott have been business partners.  Are they still? Some republicans seem to think so.

James Harris is Liberty Consulting LLC

After checking out the Jefferson Thomas post on Kehoe and Blunt I noted the Liberty Consulting LLC listing with a Texas address.  On Jan 4, 2005, Spence Jackson announced his own appointment as well as others including King James Harris.

"Harris, 28, a Franklin County, Mo., native, will serve as the Director of Boards and Commissions. Harris worked as the Political Director on Blunt's campaign for governor and previously served as the Chief of Staff to Congressman John Carter (R-TX). "

But low & behold Liberty Consulting is listed as a Missouri LLC:

https://www.sos.mo.gov/BusinessEntity/soskb/Filings.asp?626604#

Now King James is listed as being paid staff on Blunt's campaign report and he's listed as consulting.......is this a way to avoid employment and income taxes? There is something very fishy here too.
