The Amy and Andy Show -- Waddell and Reed
Alright, I know I just did a post about Amy and Andy last night, but things are moving kinda fast and I think we all need to know about the latest angle.  The Democratic Party has done a press release that pretty much sums up the situation with Waddell and Reed.Â
But the bottom line is this: Secretary of State Robin Carnahan dusted off the securities division in the secretary of state's office (which had previously spent its time on petty securities issues like unregistered guys selling securities out of a trailer) and decided to go after a very big fish -- Waddell and Reed. Of course, Waddell and Reed screamed bloody murder. (As Cynthia Davis would tell them, those pesky securities rules are extremely complex). They hired two law firms (because one law firm just wouldn't be enough). And who were those firms, you ask. . . Andy Blunt's firm and Amy Blunt's firm. Imagine that.Â
But wait, it gets better.  Now Matt Blunt's Department of Insurance has moved to intervene, saying they don't like what Carnahan is up to. The motion was filed by Matt's hand-picked General Counsel at DOI, Doug Ommen.Â
"The reason for the intervention is that I am concerned that the judge in his ruling could create a situation where the department has different standards of professional conduct than what the Securities Division has," Ommen said.Â
Well it sure would be nice if someone had some standards of professional conduct. . . and I don't think its the Blunt children.
