Sell it? Heck, He Gave It Away

Some people have said that Matt Blunt is the kind of slick huckster who might try to sell you the Brooklyn Bridge.  Turns out that's wrong.  In fact, he would give it away.

It seems that our Governor has agreed to give away the bridge in Boonville, MO to the Union Pacific Railroad, thus creating a gap in the the Katy Trail, and plunging the state into a legal quagmire.  Perhaps our Governor doesn't mind legal quagmires though, since both Amy and Andy have managed to have their law firms represent clients in disputes with the state recently.

His idiotic decision caused immediate reaction from long-term DNR employees who have nurtured the Katy Trails concept since its beginnings.

Ron Kucera, deputy director for policy at the Department of Natural Resources, said Blunt's decision to relinquish rights to the old railroad bridge in Boonville threatens the legal foundation for the entire 225-mile walking and cycling trail, which was built on a former railroad route.

The railroad industry has longstanding ties the Blunt family.  Before taking his leadership position, Roy served on the committee relevant to them.  Railroad interests were also HUGE contributors to the Roy's Rely On Your Beliefs PAC in 2000.  The ROYB Fund, as it was known, was controlled by Andy and funnelled large sums into Matt's 2000 campaign for Secretary of State.  There is also a Federal version of ROYB.  Union Pacific was also generous there.
