The Right-Wing is Eating Their Young....Governor

Loyal Fired Up readers will recall that a few weeks ago, National Review ripped Gov. Blunt for his position on stem cell.  In the current issue, Blunt attempted a reply, using many of the same attacks on Missouri Right to Life that he has used in commentary pieces to various Missouri publications.

However, National Review, the conservative movement's flagship publication wasn't buying his spin.  Here are some tidbits from their editorial reply:

Our editorial noted that he had never explained the basis of his position.  Gov. Blunt’s letter suggests that he has no good answers.

The obfuscation begins in the opening lines, when Blunt suggests that NR mischaracterized the political situation in Missouri.

Blunt continues to mislead with the discussion of legislative “hostages.”

And even if the governor were playing it straight here, it would hardly make his position look better.

So is the fact that he is defending his position with nearly Clintonesque spin.

One can only assume that Blunt will soon be attacking the National Review for their left-wing liberal bias.  Perhaps Gov. Blunt would be better served to recall the first rule of holes:  When you find yourself in one, stop digging.
