More on the Blunt "Friends and Family" Plan
On Friday, we talked about the Missouri Association of Realtors having to hire a lobbyist in DC to help them prevent a Matt Blunt veto of their favored legislation.
At that time, I commented:
Since it would have been too unseemly even for the Blunts, to hire Andy or Amy for this one, the Realtors picked Roy's favorite DC lobbyist, former top aide, Gregg Hartley. Think of it as Roy and Matt's own version of the Blunt, Inc. "Friends and Family" plan.
This mirrors the Tom DeLay model of steering business to former aides, who are then expected to pony up on the fundraising side.
Well, as it turns out, Hartley has already ponied up to Matt. According to a October 15, 2004 KC Star story:
Eight members of Cassidy & Associates, and its political action committee, contributed nearly $6,000 to Matt Blunt. Key to those contributions was chief operating officer Gregg Hartley, a top congressional aide to Roy Blunt for 18 years. Cassidy's clients have included Boeing, Johnson & Johnson and Nokia.
And now their clients include the MO Association of Realtors to lobby Gov. Matt Blunt. See, the system works like a charm.
