Ms. Olds Regrets . . .
Submitted by Jean Carnahan on Thu, 09/22/2005 - 9:06am.
Award-winning poet Sharon Olds sent regrets to Laura Bush this week, declining an invitation to attend the National Book Festival. She tells why she refused the White House luncheon in her letter published in the Nation.
I found the solemn beauty of her words very moving. By all means, take a minute to read them.

I admire Sharon Olds
Sharon Olds is representing acceptable behavior, good moral conscience. As a child, my parents guided me and told me to avoid the bad people in this world. As a lady, my mother taught me how to ignore the evil side of life. If Matt Blunt, Roy Blunt, Tod Akin (the Missouri Republican Gang-sta's) walked on the same side of the street, I would cross the street in order not to be tainted with their ugliness, greed, immorality, and their lies. It represents how low I consider them in my esteem. More so, how appalled I am that their parent's didn't raise them better.
